About four years ago I did some research into how much it was to develop an app for our new startup CIC. He called me and immediately grasped what we wanted. Sadly at that point we did not have the money to go for it.
Russ stayed in touch over the next three years to see where we were at. For us it was crucial to find someone who we could build a good working relationship with as this is an ongoing project that will just grow over the years.
When we were able to finally go for Russ’s proposal we couldn’t have wished for a better app developer.
Despite the app being quite complex and film specific he understood what needed to be done. His team was incredible and fast in both design and delivery and there was fantastic communication and support throughout. We even ended up getting our website re-done by him too.
We couldn’t recommend Russ and his team anymore if we tried. Five stars and beyond.

Building a digital certification infrastructure
CineCertified is a UK film and TV industry initiative built “for camera crew, by camera crew.” Backed by fifty-plus working industry professionals and major names like Panavision, RED Digital Cinema, SONY, and ZEISS, it set out to fix a problem the industry itself had flagged: a BECTU/Mark Milsome Foundation survey found over two-thirds of UK camera crew were concerned about people being promoted into responsibility without adequate experience or safety training.
Their answer was a peer-reviewed Camera Trainee Logbook tracking a trainee’s skills, working days, and sign-offs from experienced crew through to a final industry assessment.
Boom Software built the CineCertified digital logbook web app the platform that turns CineCertified’s training framework into a working, trackable, accountable system for the entire UK camera department.
